Learning Your Italian "Real Estate"

We’ve talked a lot about the wonders of real estate in Italy. Today we’re going straight to the source to discuss one of the brightest spots on the map; Le Marche!

Le Marche is a beautiful and historic Italian town with much to offer visitors and real estate investors alike. We’ve put together a little history lesson about Le Marche and we’re hoping to give you a glimpse into the charm of this Italian town. If you’re interested in learning more about Le Marche, or you’re hoping to get some information on investing in real estate in beautiful Italy, read on for some insight!
According to the city’s information page, Le Marche, like the rest of central Italy, was deeply bound up in the rivalry between the Papacy and the Holy Roman Empire... Underneath the simple fight between the two parties lie an in depth political struggle between the newly formed middle class of merchants and artisans, who sided themselves with the Guelphs, and the old feudal nobility who saw that the surge of democracy could best be held in form by the Emperor's Ghibelline division.

Becoming a part of this culturally rich area is a big decision. As such, learning the ins and outs of foreign real estate investment is imperative. Using a quality real estate investment firm is the best way to get the ball rolling. After all, the lingo in Italy is far different from what you’ll find in the United States.

For example, we found the following information on the city’s representative web page promoting the purchase of real estate in Le Marche:
Having decided that you like a property, the first stage is the signing of a compromesso. This scrittura privata or "private contract" between yourself and the seller is a legally binding document and if you change your mind you will loose whatever deposit you have paid and usually be liable to pay an additional penalty. Deposits vary but are often around 10 to 20% of the agreed purchase price.

As you can see, moving to Italy may require you learn just a bit of Italian first…your initial lesson should be labeled “real estate Italian” as you sign on the dotted line to purchase your very own Italian dream home!
